Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas, readers. Tonight is my favorite night of the year, and it has begun to snow so it looks like we will have a white Christmas. We will have our annual Italian Christmas Eve feast with family tonight and I will host Christmas Day brunch tomorrow.

The Christmas Eve menu is very similar to last year – crab, shrimp, scallops, mussels, lasagna, and Sicilian rice balls (arancini). The mussels and lasagna recipes are in the index. We will also have homemade Italian sausage with onions, peppers, and mushrooms, and mixed greens with blackberries and pears. For dessert, LOTS of cookies, cannoli, and cheesecake.

Tomorrow’s brunch will include homemade biscuits, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, homemade granola and yogurt, juice, and homemade eggnog.

Here is a picture of my latest holiday decorating addition – a cooking-themed tree for the kitchen. I have been collecting copper tree ornaments for years, and now they are all in the kitchen where I can enjoy them while cooking.
